AWAKE, TO EVOKE FEELING, PASSION.
The focus, vibrancy, and movement of each piece portray many of the feelings and experiences that inspire me. My collection is truly a portrait and reflection of my life. Born and raised in San Diego California, the ocean, surf and music have always been an inspiration along with travels around the world to some of the most amazing beaches. My mother had a paintbrush in my hand when I was three and my father put me on a surfboard as young as I can remember. Over the years I have blended all this to create and find my own expression.
Through layering, brushstrokes and the application of color I am able to express a distinctive style. Like the Impressionists and Action Painters, I enjoy exploring colors’ infinite possibilities. The combination of vivid color schemes and imagery influenced by my surroundings and world travels come together to portray my art.
A piece titled “Tropical Forest” shows the crystal clear blues and greens from surfing the oceans of Indonesia, to my love for playing the guitar in “G Sharp” with its background in orange, reds and browns. I place color schemes on my canvases as backdrops, which evoke feelings of places or icons I have seen. I hope the viewer will feel a connection with these pieces through some of their own personal experiences.
With a Bachelors Degree from the University of San Diego, I am excited about focusing my time on building a collection of art for the public to view that will inspire, evoke feeling and passion like my art has done for me.
